Project Computer Literacy
Like many other things in life, knowledge is best when it is shared. We, at The Computers and Mathematics Society, SRCC, realise the importance of education, and even more so, the growing role that technology plays in education today. With this belief, we have taken up the Project Computer Literacy, an initiative aimed at imparting basic technological knowledge related to basics of computer and various useful applications such as MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint in schools.
Phase 1
We conducted multiple sessions for the young minds in Dhanpat Mal Virmani Sr. Sec. School, Roop Nagar, Delhi in the month of February 2020 and hope that we can use this platform to impact a larger deprived section of the society.
Phase 2
While the Covid 19 pandemic caused unexpected events and experiences for the entire world, particularly students who faced adversity in both their social and academic lives, we didn't let that affect us. So with the goal of making children computer literate, we shifted to online style of teaching, and our efforts gave fruitful results by enabling us to impact 700+ lives in 13+ schools across India in the span of 5 months.
Phase 3
Continuing with the goal of impacting young lives, we launched the first-ever fellowship programme ‘COMPACT’ with 55 volunteers from all over the country, edifying more than 500 students in 10+ schools and NGOs over a span of two months.
Further, to mark the occasion of World Computer Literacy Day, we organised a competition ‘Emblazon’ among 150+ students from 16 schools under Project Computer Literacy in December 2021.
Finally , due to a sudden shift from online to offline mode, we decided to move back to our roots of educating students offline and rebounded by teaching 250+ students of DUSC Co-ed Secondary School, Vijay Nagar, New Delhi in April 2022.
